Winter Colorguard
In the winter and spring, the Marching Band's Color Guard becomes the Winter Guard. Performing indoors to recorded music, the Winter Guard performs with dance, flags, rifles and sabres as a JV and Varsity team. Each team tells their own unique story through their show. Winter Guard has its own circuit of competitions, running from early February through mid-April culminating at the North Star Circuit Regional Championships and WGI World Championships.
Color Guard is an inclusive sport. No experience is necessary to start and all are welcome! Past performance experience whether playing an instrument, doing theatre, or dancing is helpful, but not needed to be successful in the program. We are prepared to teach students everything they need to know.
In the summer and fall, the Eden Prairie Color Guard performs as one team as an integral part of the Eden Prairie Marching Band. The Color Guard tells the visual story of the Marching Band show matching choreography and performance to the music the Band plays. Students who perform with the Winter Guard during the winter/spring season may choose to play their instrument during the Marching Band season.
The Eden Prairie Color Guard is open to students 7-12th grade and the Winter Guard is open to students in grades 6 – 12th .
The teams are under the direction of coaches Olivia Sims and Kaity Grausam. You can contact them at osteele1331@outlook.com for more information.
